Seating walls have become more popular in outdoor hardscaped-spaces in recent years. Built-in seating is a trend that will surely stick around. Traditional furniture solutions typically need to be replaced from time to time. Common furniture deteriorates with prolonged exposure to sun, rain and critters. In contrast, a built-in seat wall is more permanent and can perform several roles within your design.
A seat wall can add definition to an open area by separating one outdoor room from the next. Seat walls are a marvelous design solution for fire pit areas. The wall itself reflects heat which enhances the warm environment. A curved seat wall compliments and coordinates well with a round fire pit or curved patio. A more angular fire pit would pair well with an L-shaped seat wall. The bench-style seating will accommodate more people than regular seating. We recommend adding outdoor rated pillows and/or cushions to supply additional comfort.
